Description
This book grew out of an adult Sunday school class at Plano Christian Church in Illinois. After September 11, 2001, our group decided to study other religions. Each member selected a religion to study and present to the class; I volunteered to take Islam. As we studied Jewish and Arab heritage in the Bible, it became obvious that most class members had no concept of God's promise to the Jews of the Promised Land of Canaan, now Israel. After the study was over,my wife, Carolyn, suggested I write a book on the subject. This book is not a comprehensive history of the Jews and Israel, but only a biblical history of why the Jews claim the land of Israel (Canaan) as their Promised Land from God. This book is written from a Christian's perspective of the Bible. If you do not accept the Bible as the Word of God, this book will be of no use to you. If you do accept the Bible as written, it should provide a relatively quick study on the ancient claims of the Jews to the land of Canaan. I pray that God may use this book to serve His will.
Capt. James D. Hacker is an airline captain, flying Boeing 767s and 757s with United Airlines, which lost one of each type of aircraft on September 11, 200l. He was raised by a Jewish father who converted to Christianity and a Christian mother. After serving in the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam, he worked in banking and finance and earned an MBA. After some time in airline management, he began flying airliners. He also taught adult Sunday school, stressing history and the Old Testament. After "9/11," he delved into the Bible and a study of Islam to determine the reason for the hatred of Muslims for Israel and America. This led to a study of who should own the land of Israel according to the Bible.
